The founder of the cryptocurrency exchange, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), claims that they fully met the requirements. However, their application for MiCA in Greece was on the verge of approval until politicians intervened. CZ also mentioned that there were two countries in the EU willing to grant Binance registration. CZ neither confirmed nor denied the allegation that ECB President Christine Lagarde (a known opponent of cryptocurrencies) was involved in this. Zhao noted that he does not have documents pointing to this. Starting July 1, due to the lack of MiCA, Binance is imposing restrictions for more than 20 million clients in the EU. The restrictions depend on the users' jurisdiction.
