Mitsubishi and its subsidiary banking companies, as well as a joint venture with Morgan Stanley, will take part in the development. To implement the project, they will work with blockchain companies Digital Asset Holdings (U.S.) and Progmat (Japan). Transactions in Japanese government bonds will take place on the Canton Network blockchain. The companies aim to improve operational efficiency by automating the transaction lifecycle. In addition, they plan to enable 24/7 real-time intraday settlement and improve capital efficiency. The initiative is part of a pilot project by Japan’s Financial Services Agency, launched in February 2026.
