Payward and Polygon Labs are buying companies to obtain licenses in the EU and the US

Kraken’s parent company, Payward, will acquire the Lithuanian bank Saldo Bank. The deal is planned to close in 2027 through the purchase of the bank’s Finnish holding company, Saldo Finance Oy. The acquisition will allow Payward to expand into four operating markets where the bank already offers retail term deposits: Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, and Germany. In addition, it holds a license in the Netherlands.

Polygon Labs has completed its acquisition of Coinme, expanding its licenses across 48 states through the Open Money Stack platform. The deal is part of $250 million in acquisitions of Coinme and Sequence, an e-wallet infrastructure company. Open Money Stack is planned to be used to pay salaries in local currencies in more than 100 countries. The total volume of stablecoin transfers through Polygon Chain exceeds $3 trillion.
