The cryptocurrency exchange transferred the order book with USDT from September to November 2025. Bithumb had obtained user consent to transfer information to the Stellar exchange. However, the data was actually sent to a platform managed by BingX. Additionally, when transferring cryptocurrencies, Bithumb provided personal data of the sender and receiver to 13 foreign exchanges. This information included names, wallet addresses, and dates of birth, which are necessary for money laundering prevention. The cryptocurrency exchange violated the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act. The regulator noted that information allowing for the identification of a person, such as name and social security number, should not be recorded on the blockchain. Bithumb is required to correct its user data transfer protocols to foreign countries and pay a fine of 210 million Korean won ($136,000).
