Additionally, von der Leyen emphasized that they are considering the first full ban on crypto services at the level of individual countries. The restrictions may apply to jurisdictions hosting platforms that help Russia circumvent sanctions. According to Chainalysis, $154 billion in illicit funds passed through crypto addresses in 2023. A significant portion of these funds is linked to Russia, including the ruble-based stablecoin A7A5.
