Federal agencies are required to bring key information systems and valuable assets up to new protection standards. The deadline for key generation mechanisms is the end of 2030, and for digital signatures, it's 2031. Within 180 days, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, in collaboration with the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), must launch a pilot project. This project must be completed by December 31, 2027. During the project, government systems will be transitioned to new quantum-resistant encryption algorithms approved by NIST. The U.S. holds 328,400 BTC ($20.7 billion), which is 1.6% of the coin.
