Jeffrey K. Aueng, 47, assisted international fraudsters in transferring funds from investment scams. He opened 81 bank accounts in 24 financial institutions and 19 accounts on 8 cryptocurrency exchanges. Aueng created 9 legal entities to receive funds from victims who believed they were investing in high-yield oil storage tanks. However, after receiving the funds, the fraudster transferred them to Binance accounts controlled by residents of Russia and Nigeria. He used Gemini, Coinbase, and BitStamp for conversion into BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC. Aueng earned $4.5 million in commissions. Furthermore, he continued the scheme even after charges were brought against him, using accounts in his wife's name. He is now required to repay $24.7 million, including $7.1 million in cryptocurrency.
